About the nine dash lines, I agree wholeheartedly with him. Nobody know what it is, it is not in the international law. I do think it is important, because it stoke suspicions of China intention among ASEAN countries. It affect Indonesia the most, IMHO. I know Indonesia is very suspicious of China intention regarding the sea near natuna island because of it. These south China sea issue is the achiles heel for China relationship with ASEAN, it is an opening that the US exploited to wholesome, and nine dash line is making things worse for China. The dash line could be interpreted as the dragon hunger has no limit, it could expand. Although if you look at it from other perspective, it could also mean that China think it is a disputed territory that is open to negotiation and China can pull back depend on the negotiation, basically it is not settled yet, hence the dash lines. Unfortunately for China, most people in Indonesia think it is the first case, that China will expand its claim over time.

I think Kishore's most important point in that interview is that he viewed the US as a provocateur in the China-ASEAN relationship, that the US will drag ASEAN into war with China like Ukraine-Russia war, unless ASEAN countries stand up to the US, which they mostly didn't do because they think the US can help them to counter China power. That's where the danger is.

A bit about some of those islands, some of them were actually discovered and inhabited first by the Chinese immigrants, not native Indonesians. The Chinese immigrants who later become the ancestors of Chinese indonesians today found those islands, decided to settle there and even burned down their ships for good luck, which become a bakar tongkang tradition today.

Frankly I have no idea how China and ASEAN can settle this dispute, and this dispute is really bad for China in term of its competition with the US, as we can see with what happen with Phillipine.

About UK medical system, I read in Lee Kuan Yew's bio, decades ago, Lee Kuan Yew also fell sick while in UK, and Singapore immediately arranged plane to take him home to be hospitalized in Singapore because they didn't trust UK hospital. Clearly nothing change, maybe even worse, LOL. I can't believe that you can't immediately see a doctor for something like flu. I mean even Indonesia, which has terrible medical system, it is not difficult to find doctors for something like flu or fever.

btw fun fact about the guy who interviewed Kishore, he is a former Indonesian foreign minister.
