this rerouting of supply chain happened before, when China replaced Asian tigers to become the supplier of goods to the US. Asian tigers in return became the supplier to China for spare parts, and moved a lot of their factories to China. Asian tigers still benefited a lot, but overtime, Asian tigers begun to lose out to China as China moved up the ladder of supply chain value. This is a good lesson for China to learn from, don't be complacent. While China is still benefiting from moving its assembly lines to Mexico and Vietnam, and supplying spare parts to those countries that supply the US, China need to keep upgrading its competitive advantage. Its companies must not be complacent like the Japanese.
